Hollywood Regency Style Bedroom
The golden era of Hollywood is truly an inspiration in more ways than just one. Interior trends and design styles seem to get recycled ever so often. And much like in the world of fashion, a trend once considered 'old and boring' is often given a new lease of life by innovative designers. While names like Dorothy Draper and William Haines gave 'Hollywood Regency' its first golden run, modern designers such as Kelly Wearstler are offering sparkling new variations of this timeless theme.
Born during a time of opulence, extravagance and 'over the top' movie sets in Hollywood, the Regency style is a symbol of a bygone era. Yet, with contemporary twists and gorgeous improvisations, this sophisticated style is back in full swing. For its sheer audacity and visual richness, it is an inspiration from Hollywood that is well worth taking a look at.

Vivid Hues and Bold Patterns
This is Hollywood we are talking about and anything that tries to mimic the stars from the tinsel town needs to tone up on the flamboyance. That is pretty much the simple truth when it comes to the Hollywood Regency look. Black and white is the basic pattern and color scheme that is typically found in any setting trying to adopt the Regency style. But mere black and white (that could be stripes, alternating tiles or flowing patterns) does not get the job done completely.

Rich purple, golden yellow and dazzling scarlet are all hues which you will often come across while checking out Regency inspirations. These are the colors that bring a sense of 'vitality' while keeping the dramatic look intact. Do not hesitate to add décor that comes in equally appealing and brazenly bold shades.

Hollywood is all about Smoke and Mirrors!
Another basic aspect of the Regency style comes from the way most movie stars are tuned. Hollywood's best and mirrors are a match made in heaven and so shiny mirrored surfaces, plenty of glass and glossy panels are pretty much a must. The idea here is to add loads of glitz to all those bright colors that you have employed. Lacquered surfaces are another fine addition as they tend to elevate the look of décor while keeping in with the theme.

Find the right balance between interiors that are sparingly decorated and those that are cluttered a bit too much. Do not give into the temptation of adding too many accessories. The idea is not to create chaos but to steal the show with the perfect look.

Extravagance coupled with Confidence
Those within showbiz tend to talk about the 'it' factor. It is a character that you cannot put your finger on and articulate. Yet some actors tend to have it and others don't. A large part of being a star is all about persona and confidence and these are the traits that your interiors need to showcase when clad in Hollywood Regency. Sometimes the addition of a single special décor or furnishing can make or break the look of the room. Pulling of this elusive task is as much about creativity and experimentation as it is about fine taste and an eye for right aesthetics.

Hollywood Regency style combines sophistication with evolving style as it brings in an air of luxurious refinement to your home. It is not about being outlandish or gaudy. There are times when it can be demanding, much like the stars who have helped shape it. Yet, when it all comes together, much like a summer blockbuster, it can simply sweep you off your feet!
